On May 15, 2009, Ms. Bonita Hwang Cho spoke at a legal ethics and professional responsibility seminar presented by the Chicago chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. The event was held at Harold Washington College in Chicago, and her panel was entitled “Tea for Two & Two for Tea: Dual Representation: Start of Engagement.”
On May 7, 2009, Ms. Bonita Hwang Cho was a speaker at the Asian American Bar Association of Greater Chicago’s continuing legal education seminar entitled “Diversifying Your Practice: From Real Estate Law to Criminal Law.” The seminar was held at the Hotel Allegro in Chicago. There she spoke on substantive immigration law on a panel, “Basics of Immigration Law.”
On November 21, 2008, Bonita Hwang Cho moderated a panel at the 20th Annual National Asian Pacific American Bar Association Convention held at the Seattle Sheraton. The panel was entitled, “How to Make Your Solo/Small Firm Practice Grow.”
On September 4, 2008, Ms. Bonita Hwang Cho was a speaker at the Illinois State Bar Association continuing legal education program entitled “2008 Solo and Small Firm Conference” which was held at the Pheasant Run Resort, in St. Charles, Illinois. There she spoke on substantive immigration law on a panel, “Preparing Your Clients for Immigration’s Interview Proving the Bona Fides of Their Marriage.”
On April 16, 2008, Ms. Therese Yee was presented with The 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award by DePaul University, College of Law’s Asian Pacific American Law Students Association for her leadership on behalf of Asian American communities.
In April of 2007, Remy Bumppo Theatre Company of Chicago performed a show titled An Immigrant Class as part of their thinkTank series. After the April 15th performance of An Immigrant Class, Therese Yee and Bonita Hwang Cho presented a post-show discussion regarding the legal challenges facing immigrants and the businesses who wish to hire them.
In 2005, 2006 and 2007, Ms. Yee was voted as an Immigration Super Lawyer in Chicago by lawyers in Illinois.
